Serious mining history here. Their website says: “Hidden deep within the wild ranges west of Herberton and less than 2 hours west of Cairns, it is one of North Queensland’s best kept secrets”. With a town population of 113 residents, nothing is too hard to find here!

Irvinebank has an amazing wealth of history, mainly mining. If you make the decision to head to here on your first day, stop and relax! There is lots to do – the museum and Brian’s shed.

    Food
    • Food will be available from a small shop (from 1st September 2024) where the recycling facility is. It is the middle cottage in the row of three on the left as you enter Irvinebank from Herberton.
    • Louise (Loulou) Dockerty (M: 0459 123 499 or FaceBook) or Di (M: 0407 581 192) are integral to the local Irvinebank ‘School of Arts’ and ‘Progress Association’. This group of wonderful ladies can cater dinner for cyclists.
    Attractions
    • The Museum is truly remarkable
    • Brian’s Shed is spectacular too.
